The Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) is one of the largest covered markets in the world with 60 streets and 500 shops. It is also one of Istanbul’s most attractive places for tourists and locals. It was built in 1455 on the orders of Sultan Mehmet. Suleiman the Magnificent expanded the Grand Bazaar in the 16th century. The structures of the Grand Bazaar attract around 400,000 people each day.
